Overview

The World Bank results site provides access to different views of results from the World Bank’s results management tools.

·        Results Briefs

Results Briefs are short presentations of examples of results that have been achieved with World Bank support. They describe the challenges, solutions and results achieved and links to project related multimedia and more information on the project and the country.

·        The corporate results frameworks

The Corporate Scorecards provide an overarching view of the results and performance indicators of the three World Bank Group institutions: the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency. The IDA Result Measurement System offers a similar view of the International Development Agency, the World Bank’s fund for the poorest. The Corporate Scorecards and the IDA Result Measurement System are structured along three tiers: Tier I) Development Context; Tier II) Client Results; and Tier 3) Performance.

·        Implementation Status and Results Reports from projects

These reports provide regularly updated information on progress directly from individual projects under implementation. There are more than 20,000 reports online and even more project details are available at the Projects & Operations site.

Aid Effectiveness is about improving the delivery and management of aid so that partner countries, in collaboration with other development actors, can more easily achieve their development objectives. While development needs far more than aid to be successful and sustainable, aid nonetheless still plays an important catalytic role for development in many countries and communities.

Since the Fourth High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness in Busan, Republic of Korea in December 2011, and the establishment of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Co-operation (GPEDC), the aid effectiveness agenda has evolved beyond its traditional focus on donors and recipients to incorporate a broader approach towards effective development co-operation

By supporting country-led aid management, adopting a strong focus on development results and transparency and inclusiveness, and forging partnerships across the development spectrum, the World Bank is leading efforts to achieve improved aid effectiveness to support better development outcomes.

As the representative of the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) on the Steering Committee of the Global Partnership on Effective Development Cooperation the World Bank continues to provide strategic leadership to promote more effective development cooperation at the country and global level to support better development outcomes. The World Bank is also a long time active member and leading publisher of the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI), a voluntary, multi-stakeholder initiative that seeks to improve the transparency of aid in order to increase its effectiveness in tackling poverty.

External evaluations including the 2016 Multilateral Organization Performance Assessment Network (MOPAN) Institutional Assessment, and the 2013 United Kingdom Multilateral Aid Review recognize the World Bank’s overall effectiveness and contribution to development results. Publish What You Fund’s (PWYF) 2016 Aid Transparency Index has ranked the World Bank as sixth overall among 46 donors and in the top ‘very good’ category for the second consecutive year.
